First Orthodontic Visit

When you make the choice to pursue improved oral health and a straighter smile with orthodontics, it can be exciting. Orthodontic care can change your life for the better in many ways, after all, and that’s something worth celebrating! However, it’s not unusual to feel slightly overwhelmed as well, especially when you aren’t sure what to expect in the months ahead.

Here at David Ross Orthodontics, it’s important to us that you feel confident in the trust you’ve placed in our practice. That begins the moment you walk in our door! Your initial consultation with our Hanover office us is one of the most important appointments you’ll have, and we do our best to make it an exciting and stress-free experience for you. To better prepare you for this first orthodontic visit, keep reading below to learn more about what you can expect.

The first step in your orthodontic journey

You’ll be greeted warmly each time you enter our office, and this is no exception! Our treatment coordinator will give you a quick tour and introduce you to some of our talented team before we take a few x-rays and photos for our diagnostic records. We may also choose to do some impressions. Following this, you’ll meet Dr. Ross and he will perform a thorough oral examination.

The unknown can be scary, and that’s why our team is committed to making sure you understand each step of your orthodontic journey. We never want you to feel like you’re being rushed or that your questions have gone unanswered. Once your exam is complete, we’ll sit down with you and go over a variety of topics related to your specific case, including:

  • Any oral issues you’re experiencing that orthodontics can address
  • If treatment is needed immediately or if it would be better to delay it
  • What treatment options we have available to correct the problem
  • An estimate of how long we expect your treatment to take
  • The total estimated financial investment
  • Any payment or financing options we have available to you

At David Ross Orthodontics, we don’t do “cookie cutter” treatment. Instead, we will analyze your specific needs and create a personalized treatment plan based on your smile, your lifestyle, and your goals. This individualized approach allows us to consistently produce superior results our patients are proud to share with the world!

Your investment in a healthier smile

Once you and Dr. Ross decide on a treatment plan together, we’ll talk you through the investment needed for your new smile. Because every orthodontic patient has their own unique needs and will respond to treatment in their own way, the total cost will vary from case to case. Don’t worry, though! We’ll always ensure you understand all the associated costs of treatment before moving on to the next step.

Because we believe in providing high-quality orthodontic care for patients of all ages, we offer affordable treatment options that work with every budget. We have a wide variety of payment options to fit your needs, as well! We participate with all major insurance plans. In fact, we have an on-site financial coordinator to help you with your insurance claims and answer all of your questions. We are also a CHIP Participating Provider for select CHIP plans, and a participating provider for most state Medicaid plans.

David Ross Orthodontics offers full-payment and multi-family member discounts, along with no-interest financing, including a low down payment and low monthly payments. For your convenience, we also offer an automatic draft from checking accounts and accept most major credit cards.

The next steps in your journey

Once your consultation is complete, we’ll schedule an appointment for you to receive your new orthodontic appliance. You’ll then be scheduled for follow-up appointments with us approximately every eight to ten weeks or so throughout the treatment process. We’ll use these appointments to adjust your appliance if necessary, and Dr. Ross will check your progress to make sure your treatment is progressing as it should be.

These visits are an essential part of your orthodontic treatment, so it’s important that you don’t skip them. However, we know that life sometimes happens, and you may occasionally need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. We do our best to make sure appointments are scheduled for a day and time that’s convenient for you, but if for some reason you’re running late or can’t make your appointment, we simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible. This way we can accommodate you and reschedule your appointment so your treatment doesn’t fall behind!
